Change your Weekends

Today when I was driving to my office on the busy roads of Gurgaon I was wondering why we all get free on the same two days (Saturday and Sunday). So I thought of calculating the effects of shifting our weekly holidays.

Suppose there are 2000 companies in which employees get 2 days off weekly. On an average each company has 500 employees and 50% of them have 4 wheelers. Also suppose that these companies consume 1000 MW of power everyday.

Current
2000 --> 1000MW = 0.5MW per Company

2000 * 500 = [10,00000] Employees

2000 * 250 = [5,00000] four Wheelers on road from these companies
(50% employees have four wheelers)

We can decide from three Non-Overlapping day offs:-
SaturdaySunday - MondayTuesday - WednesdayThursday

Now at any single day (except Friday), 666 company employees will be on leave.
(Friday can be used for companies that have only a single day off weekly)

666 * 250 = 1,66,500 vehicles off the road
so less congestion and better use of roads with less wear and tear.
No long queues at Petrol pumps.
Will have affect on the number of road accidents per day.
Better control through Traffic police and signals.
Better fuel efficiency and fuel saving.

666 * 0.5 = 333 MW of extra power available
This can be used at other locations.
Better illumination of roads and more power available to the city.
Reduction in power cuts

Also there will be a reduction in the number of people visiting Malls and Cinema houses.

Two Helmets with two wheelers

OK, So you got a challan from Delhi police becoz you dont have a helmet. And now you've decided that you are going to buy one from the road side vendors... well, think before you buy those *caps*, they aren;t any good.

When the govenrnment can make road tax and insurance a compulsory thing with vehicles, why can;t they just make a rule that people have to buy 2 helmets with two wheelers and that too should be standardized. Good quality helmets, a must buy with the vehicle will save people from buying the cheap stuff and then the law can be pushed for both the riders.

Let people pay their players

People can pay their players of their favorite game by using a SMS system.
A code like (6666) will be assigned to a game's national team. Everyday the team stats will be displayed on a TV channel and a website. If a team is doing well, people can SMS to a special number using the team's . This SMS will be charged at a special rate (e.g. Rs. 5) from which a certain amount will go to the team's account and a small amount will go for website maintenence. When a person sends a SMS, he can also send his name which will be displayed along with his mobile number on the website. This will ensure that the the SMS money has gone to the team's account. A summary page will show the total money collected and send to the team.

Chak De India released two weeks ago and today I got the news that the Indian Hockey team won their consecutive third match. Media has a big effect on we Indians.

I think people can easily shell out 5 rupees for their team which will go directly to the players.
